12, 16, or 20 characters: which length?
Every extra character multiplies the work for an attacker. The table shows how long it would take to try every combination of a truly random password on a rig making about a trillion guesses a second against a leaked, weakly hashed database. That is the worst case, and it is why short passwords fail.

Password or passphrase?
A password like q7#Vt!2mLz9@Rw4e is the strongest per character. Use it anywhere a
password manager or browser will type it for you.
A passphrase like Maple-Otter-Crisp7-Lantern-Harbor is easier to type on a
controller, a TV keyboard, or a phone. Five random words from this generator’s list of about 2,000 words give
roughly the strength of a random 10-character password with symbols. Use six words for your email or anything
tied to money.
The words must be random. A phrase you picked yourself, a lyric, or a quote is much easier to guess.
Should you use an AI password generator?
“AI password generator” is a popular search, but a language model is the wrong tool for this job. Chatbots are built to produce likely text. A good password has to be unlikely: every character picked by a secure random source with no pattern to learn.
- Chatbots tend to repeat the same shapes of password, which makes them easier to guess.
- The password may be saved in your chat history, on someone else’s server.
- You cannot check how “random” the answer really was.

Gaming accounts need more than a strong password
Most stolen Steam, Epic, and Roblox accounts are not cracked. They are phished or logged into with a password reused from another leak. A unique password stops the second problem. Two-factor authentication stops most of the first.
- Give every game account its own random password. Never reuse your email password.
- Turn on 2FA for every account that offers it. Keep the setup key somewhere safe, like the vault authenticator.
- Save the login, the recovery email, and the backup codes together so you can get back in later.

- Yes. Passwords are made in your browser with the Web Crypto secure random generator, the same kind password managers use. Nothing is sent to LoginScout, logged, or saved. Close the tab and the password is gone unless you copied it.
- How long should a password be?
- Use at least 16 random characters for accounts you care about, or a passphrase of five or more random words. 12 characters is the minimum worth using. Only go shorter when a site caps the length.
- Is a passphrase better than a random password?
- Both are strong when they are random. A random 16-character password packs more strength into fewer characters. A five-word passphrase is easier to type on a console or phone. Pick the one you will actually use, and never reuse it.
- Can I use these passwords for Steam, Epic, Roblox, or Riot?
- Yes. The symbols here are ones most sign-up forms accept. If a site rejects a symbol, untick Symbols and raise the length, or switch to a passphrase.
- Should I use an AI chatbot to make my password?
- No. Chatbots predict likely text, which is the opposite of what a password needs, and your chat history may keep a copy. Use a generator built on a secure random source, like this one.
